Running in sunglasses in the dark
I worried about becoming a statistic tonight. Tripping and falling. Running into someone. Getting hit by a dumb driver. Being abducted.
It was almost 8 p.m., and in Washington, it gets dark -- very dark -- around that time. Gorgeous, yes, but dark and scary. The Washington Monument against the backdrop of a purple sky is a majestic view, but not when you're in the dark.
A guy who ran by me wore sunglasses. He, too, could have easily become a statistic. Wearing sunglasses. In the dark.
He probably thought he was cool. I thought he was stupid.
But here I was, running in the dark, too. Wearing sunglasses didn't really make a difference.

You're probably too young to remember this. But now track 1 is stuck in my head, thanks a LOT!
