Mission Accomplished
The weekend in the Twin Cities was ridiculously short but sweet.
Friday: After a crazy busy day of pounding the halls on Capitol Hill and filing a story, I jetted off for the Twin Cities in the evening. I bounced off my chair as I wrote, and I'm sure the reporter editing my story thought I was crazy. I told him I couldn't contain my excitement to go home and that I was just high on life.
Saturday: I ordered my wedding dress, picked out bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dresses in less than four hours! We dined on Grand Avenue for lunch and shopped the afternoon away. I got six inches of hair chopped off at my favorite salon in the world. Don't worry. It's the same style and still past my shoulders. We finished the evening with a family dinner at the Olive Garden. Yes, I'm a big big fan of the Olive Garden. And five hunky (sorry Ben!) waiters sang Happy Birthday to me. The wedding planning crew also sang Happy Birthday, and I played conductor.
Sunday: Internally, this was a somber day. I didn't want to leave. I love my family too much, and I think it's unnatural to be so far away. We should be together. Life is too precious for this distance. I digress. We made the very necessary trip to Target, my favorite store ever. I love Target. I was going through withdrawal, too. I hadn't been to one since June. It's about a 45-minute ride via metro and located in a not-so-nice, depressing mall. I concluded the day with the fam with some early holiday shopping. It was back to the airport around 5 p.m., and I was in my apartment at 10:45 p.m. Blah. I miss home.
