Unpacked in D.C., touring NYC

Yes, that's right. I moved to D.C. yesterday only to take a NYC-bound five-hour bus ride where the driver couldn't smoothly shift gears to save his life. I've got the next seven months to be a tourist and D.C. resident. But my dear sister, who flew out to D.C. for support and unpacking help, had never been to the Big Apple. Until today, that is.

After a long nap until noon, we hit the New York streets for eating and touring. What else is there to do in NYC? Oh right, we could shop. Does buying a Fodor's guide to Washington, D.C. count? We spent about 15 minutes drooling at the big diamonds in Tiffany's. We people watched in Central Park, and I left with a jean jacket full of grass stains.

Tonight, we'll eat some more. Because NYC really has the best food ever. I'm pretty sure if I lived here and had the money to dine often, I would get fat. I have no will power when it comes to pastries or my latest sweet fad, snickerdoodle cookies. LeAnn, you can ship out the snickerdoodles instead of the rice crispy bars.

That's about it for now. I promise I won't turn this into an all-about-me blog, where I give you the minute play-by-play of my life. I won't write in detail about when I went to the bathroom or what I ate for breakfast.

More intelligent commentary is coming soon to a blog on your screen...

Hi Brady - This is so cool. I'm what some might call a Blog-virgin. This is my first post... my first time reading a blog. Perhaps that makes me a cyber-dinosaur?? Oh well, I've been called worse! Anyway, I loved reading your posts... I especially liked the first one about being in the middle... As I look in the rear-view mirror of my life, there are lots of "middle" spaces... but they move quickly.. too quickly sometimes. Have a great time in NYC - eat to your hearts content, oh-marathon girl. :-) Take good care!
