Lucky at 23

I've been planning to reflect on my Washington experience over the next few weeks. And last night, as I talked with friends about my internship, I realized that I can't put a price on the last year. I'm leaving here broke, but it was worth it:)

I've seen and done things that some people who have decades on me haven't had the chance to experience. For example, about two weeks ago while covering a speech, Sam Donaldson walked in and sat a few places down from me in the same row. He was there as a spectator, not a reporter.

I've walked by politicians and famous people I had previously only seen on TV. I typed notes from the West Wing inside the White House. I traveled in the president's motorcade. I have a free ticket inside the confines of the Capitol.

It'll hard to leave the opportunities I've had here. But in saying goodbye to Washington, I'm saying hello to new opportunities in Minnesota.
